We specialise in special dietary cakes as we
recognize that people with special dietary needs also want
special occasion cakes.
Gluten free cakes
We are well known for our gluten free sponge and fruit
cakes and will always try to help you, we feel that we
understand what is required with all the special dietary
cakes. Our recipe does contain almonds as this increases the
shelf life of the cake however if you also have a nut
allergy just let us know and we will make it nut free as
well. The shelf life is not as long so we recommend you eat
it within 48 hours of receiving it.
Egg Free
This is usually for one of two reasons, either an egg
allergy or because the person you are making it for is a
Vegan and always has egg free cakes and food. The cause of
an egg allergy is generally proteins within the egg white,
but some proteins in the yolk may also induce an allergic
response. All sugar paste is fine for people who need an egg
free cake and we can finish the cake off without using royal
icing piping on the cake and so avoid egg completely.
Nut allergy
If you require a sponge this really does not affect you
as our sponge cakes contain no nut anyway. We can make sure
we only use sugar paste or butter cream and we never use
Marzipan under the sugar paste. For a fruit cake we omit the
nuts from the cake and instead of putting marzipan or almond
paste on your cake we simply use a thin layer of sugar paste
first to act as Marzipan , this gives a good finish to your
cake and will be suitable for all.
Diabetic Cake
This cake is made in such a way as to give the diabetic
customer a treat. We fill the cake with Diabetic Jam, no
cream. The sponge cake or chocolate cake is made to a
special diabetic recipe. However please remember the coating
icing is not able to be diabetic but can easily be pealed
off.
